The Russian Connection A Los Angeles Times titled “Lucrative Deals for a Daughter of Politics” profiled a global public relations services company that was started by Karen Weldon, an inexperienced 29-year-old lobbyist from suburban Philadelphia , and local political boss Charles Sexton. The company seems to be rewarded with contracts worth millions of dollars in return for Curt Weldon’s political favors and influences. In order to understand my concern, everyone in Delaware County needs to read and understand an investigative report published by the Los Angeles Times entitled Lucrative Deals for a Daughter of Politics. You may be required to sign up with the L. A. Times before being granted access to the article, but I assure you it will be well worth it as this article raises serious questions regarding Curt Weldon and his family and the lure of foreign money. The article outlines the apparent flow of money and influence between several Russian firms, Curt Weldon, Karen Weldon, and Springfield political leader, Charles Sexton. Many declined or refused to comment throughout the article including: Curt WeldonCharlie Sexton and Itera (a Russian Firm) Karen Weldon Alexander Ermishin of Saratov (Russian Firm) Despite this wall of silence, the Los Angeles Times is able to tell us much about the efforts of the Weldon family for which they have been richly rewarded with a steady flow of Russian money. The inclusion of Charlie Sexton in these business dealings may minimize any potential consequences with the local Republican Party. It is difficult to determine if Curt Weldon is representing the interest of Delaware County as he appears to lead the way for his family and friends to line their pockets with Russian money. A sure sign that a politician has been in office to long is the inability to resist the lure of money. I believe it's time for the residents of Delaware County to show Curt Weldon the door.
